Week 6

Image
I went back to the workshop for the last time to take photos of how he manages all his fluids and parts waste in the workshop. We discovered that the owner uses the service company of Waste Management New Zealand. In the workshop, we can see a lot of used tyres lying around the shop. I have asked the shop owner, who told me that he recycles the old tyres by cutting them into little pieces and dumping them into a general rubbish bin, which does not follow the policies and laws. On the good side, he has a separate container for used oil filters. fig used oil filter (Own Source) fig general rubbish bin (Own Source)

Week 5

After visiting the workshop, my colleague and I started researching waste management, resource management, Auckland council by-laws, and trade waste bylaw. I also studied about fines and penalties if workshop business owners go against it.

Week 4

I have Researched the Health and Safety Act for my first written assignment and researched laws and regulations. I revisited the workshop to take photos of the surroundings and the hazards affecting him and his customers. We often find his workshop tools lying around all over the floor, similarly with used old parts from the vehicles, making it hazardous for customers.         Fig  safety chain preventing customers to come in (Own Source)

Week 3

My colleague and I visited his workshop to study how he handles customers. We found out that his shop needs a designated receptionist. We found that appointments or bookings are made via phone or online, as seen in Fig below. Additionally, for new customers, parking is non-existent, as the owner uses all six parking spaces to park all the cars that need repair.
